When a church claims boldly "Black Lives Matter" at this moment, it chooses to show up intentionally against all given societal values of supremacy and superiority or common-sense complacency. By insisting on the intrinsic worth of all human beings, Jesus models for us how God loves justly, and how his disciples can love publicly in a world of inequality. We live out the love of God justly by publicly saying #BlackLivesMatter. (https://www.ucc.org/justice_racism_black_lives_matter)

What’s your church saying? We are the church, what are WE saying? Where is our intentionality? We don’t have to march to show allegiance to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. We don’t have to wear t-shirts with the slogan printed on them. But we must have the conversation in our congregations, in the communities where our churches are located. We must be deliberate in showing solidarity with a movement that works to preserve black lives and black identity.
